We welcome Friends of the Earth Malta as a new Associate Member to the ZWE network!

Friends of the Earth Malta (FoEM) campaigns on some of today’s most pressing environmental and social issues, by engaging the public directly through a wide range of diverse projects and activities.

Established in 1985, Friends of the Earth Malta has been a prominent figure in Malta’s environmental landscape. Originally known as Żgħażagħ Għall-Ambjent (Youths for the Environment), the organisation later evolved into the widely recognised Moviment Għall-Ambjent (Movement for the Environment). Its inception aimed to unite various youth and environmental groups, quickly growing into a dynamic committee of activists. In 1991, FoEM proudly joined the international network of Friends of the Earth.

Employing diverse non-formal and popular educational approaches, FoEM actively engages adults and youths, with a special focus on marginalised communities, empowering them to collaborate for a more sustainable future. For nearly four decades, FoEM’s advocacy has significantly influenced national policy. Presently, its campaigns are centered on Food, Agriculture & Biodiversity, Climate Change, Resource Use, and Activism.
