ENT is formed by a multidisciplinary team of professionals grouped together with the desire to work towards a society which is fairer and more respectful to the Environment. We want to bring new ideas that allow us to develop a more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable society, converting them into reality and communicating the obtained results to society. Here you will find the professional profiles of each of the members of ENT and our fellows.

ENT Environment and Management was founded in 2002 to carry out innovative projects in the field of environmental management. Later, in 2010, the ENT Foundation was also established as a private non-profit research center.

We are an international network of cities and regions sharing a common goal: promoting sustainable resource management practices. Established to encourage innovation, knowledge transfer, and cooperation, we are at the forefront of the movement toward a circular economy, where resources are used sustainably, and waste is minimised, where sub-national authorities play a key role and establish strong collaborations with a multitude of different stakeholders. 

Our members benefit from access to best practices, tools, and expertise, all aimed at helping local and regional authorities implement cutting-edge waste management and resource recovery strategies. Through partnerships, training, and policy advocacy, ACR+ plays a pivotal role in driving forward sustainable resource management in Europe and beyond.

The WEEE Forum is the world’s largest multi-national centre of competence as regards operational know-how concerning the management of waste electrical and electronic equipment (or ‘WEEE’, for short). It is a not-for-profit association of 51 WEEE producer responsibility organisations across the world and was founded in April 2002.

Through exchange of best practice and access to its reputable knowledge base toolbox, the WEEE Forum enables its members to improve their operations and be known as promoters of the circular economy.

Waste is just a symptom of a much deeper malaise that affects us humans. Zero waste is a philosophy aiming to unroot the causes of wastage altogether.

Our planet has always followed zero waste principles. For thousands of years, up until the industrial era, waste was not a developed concept because most discarded material from civilisations were used as inputs for other processes, retaining their value in a circular way, just like nature does. But what nature has done through evolution, humankind needs to do by design today .

We have now come to realise that we need to rethink the way we produce and consume in order to create these ecosystemic relations, which preserve the value and energy embedded in resources whilst enabling civilisation to flourish and prosper. Zero waste is not only about decoupling economic activity from environmental destruction – it is, above all, about building resilience and natural capital for future generations.

In the 20th century, the purpose of waste management was to minimise the immediate environmental damage through waste collection and its disposal in the least environmentally harmful way possible. Zero waste brings us into the 21st century by shifting the focus away from waste management and into proper management of our Earth’s valuable resources.

A zero waste Europe is no longer seen as a visionary project to escape from a dystopian future. Instead, today the concept has sunk in: the question is no longer “if”, but rather “how” and “when” policy makers and influencers will accept it as a legitimate and desirable goal for our society.
