Za Zemiata (Zero Waste Bulgaria) is an independent non-profit non-governmental organisation established in 1995 to work for environmental justice and sustainable and equitable life on our planet, without exploitation of people or nature.
Za Zemiata promotes sustainable solutions for zero waste, energy and climate, food sovereignty, air quality and education. It works through awareness-raising and capacity building to mobilise and empower local communities to take action on environmental conflicts, such as unsustainable energy projects, air pollution, waste incineration and landfilling, damage of protected areas, etc. Za Zemiata has reached out to over 200 schools from all across Bulgaria with practical resource- and energy-saving initiatives.
