Zero Waste Cities and climate

In 2015, world leaders agreed to the most ambitious plan yet to tackle climate change. 5 years on, progress to reduce our GHG has at best stalled, if not gone backwards. Citizens are now increasingly hitting the streets to make their voice heard, recognising the urgent need for action to prevent the worst effects of climate change from occurring.

This webinar will explore the interlinked nature between waste and climate change. Often overlooked, reducing municipal waste can play a crucial role in helping reduce our global GHG emissions. Through convening thought-leaders and practitioners, we will examine the benefits of implementing a local Zero Waste strategy can have within a successful climate change mitigation plan, and what the necessary steps are for designing such a plan.

This webinar will take a closer look and examine some key questions:

  • How can a municipality link waste and climate agendas?
  • How to reduce emissions with a zero waste strategy?
  • How can zero waste/circular economy become part of a climate mitigation strategy?
