Third International Meeting Against Incineration
24/11/2017 - 26/11/2017
The Front of Communities against Incineration in Mexico will host the Third International Meeting Against Incineration, which will take place in the municipality of Apaxco, State of Mexico, Mexico from November 24 to 26, 2017.
This event will bring together delegates and experts from Europe and Latin America, seeking to follow the trend of the two previous meetings, held in Spain and Italy, which managed to advance in the building of the movement as well as strengthen the common narrative around the urgency to avoid the social and environmental costs of incineration in cement plants and urban waste incinerators to generate electricity in the world.
The general objective of the Gathering is to present waste management alternatives that are technologically, economically, environmentally and socially sustainable. That is why the Program contemplates various field trips and extensive talks about the zero waste systems that are being implemented in the world. Likewise, there will be a press conference opening the event, and parallel meetings will be held with authorities and decision makers.
The meeting will seek to promote alternatives to incineration and its implementation at the local and global level, the reduction and prevention of waste, responsible consumption, reuse and recycling as a basis for energy savings.
The event is supported mainly by local communities, and has the active support and sponsorship of Zero Waste Europe and GAIA.
