Evidence of the serious social, economic and environmental impacts that the production, consumption and disposal of single-use menstrual products create is building. As part of #environmenstrualweek 2020, this webinar will examine in greater detail the negative impacts that single-use menstrual products are having today, as well as providing some clear policies and solutions for decision-makers, manufacturers and consumers to address the problem.
This webinar will go into greater depth to answer these key questions:
- What does the evidence say on the environmental and economic impacts of single-use menstrual items, nappies and wet wipes
- What is Environmenstrual Week and what are campaigners doing to tackle this issue?
- What are the biggest health and social issues that occur from using these items?
- What are the measures and policy recommendations that can help solve this problem?
Unfortunately, the webinar platform we use has a maximum capacity of 100 virtual seats. Therefore, to watch the webinar for free, attendance on Zoom will be done a first-come, first-served basis, meaning that only the first 100 people will be able to join on Zoom. However, if you are not part of the first 100 who join at the start of the webinar, then you can still follow the webinar live on our YouTube channel.

With knowledge and experience in data collection and analysis, in the use of environmental simulation programs and in the management and writing of reports. She has worked as a junior researcher at University College Dublin. At Rezero she has developed and coordinated waste prevention plans, Circular Economy studies and studies to promote the reuse of materials.

Natasha is the Environmenstrual Campaign Manager at Wen (Women’s Environmental Network). A passionate menstrual activist, she is also an experienced campaigner bringing with her 5+ years working in the fields of women’s health and gender equality working with organisations such as Plan International USA, Endometriosis UK, and the Gender & Development Network (GADN). She holds a MA in Anthropology: Development and Rights from Goldsmiths University of London, and a BA in International Development from Essex University. Natasha is a self-described Afro-Euro-MidEast American Brit or “third-culture kid” who advocates for a more socially just world.

Chantal Van den Bossche, communications coordinator at the international ecofeminist network Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF), works on building awareness through effective communications, of the importance of a healthy non- toxic environment, from a feminist perspective. Prior to WECF, Chantal worked as a documentary maker, editor and director for various TV and radio programs in Russia, Bulgaria and the Netherlands. She obtained a degree in Russian Language from Gerzen University, St. Petersburg and a Masters in Eastern European Studies from the University of Amsterdam, where the focus of her research was on the social stigma of AIDS and HIV in the former Soviet Union. She is a mother of 2 and is currently in the Advisory Board of the European Central Asian Lesbian* Community, an international network and NGO.
