FoodWIN supports cities and municipalities to reduce food waste, from diagnosing the problem, to drawing up an action plan and implementing actions. FoodWIN is also the coordinator of the Food Waste Alliance, a partnership of experts and a central point of contact for all questions and challenges related to food waste.

Christina has an MSc in Food Policy from the Centre for Food Policy, City University. She manages Feedback’s work on date labelling and produced the ‘Food waste scorecard’ ranking UK supermarkets on their action to address food waste.

Karine De Batselier

Coordinator Sustainable Food Strategy

Karine works for the city of Bruges where she is part of the climate team and since 2015 was in charge of the DEAR project food smart cites for Development, especially for establishing a platform (with bottom up participation process) Bruges food Lab, starting a sustainable food strategy (Bruggesmaakt), coordinator of internal meetings, developing actions around the different theme’s of the strategy and organising an annual event (H)eerlijk Brugge. In 2017-2018 she coordinated the project on food waste in the healthcare sector.

Esra Tat

Associate Director at Zero Waste Europe

Esra leads on the strategic development of Zero Waste Europe as a network and organisation, and manages the implementation of the vision with the team and member organisations. She coordinates the development of European campaigns in partnership with Zero Waste Europe’s members across the continent, and acts as the European Regional Coordinator towards GAIA International to further promote zero waste models worldwide. Previously, Esra was the Network and Development Coordinator, in charge of the Zero Waste Cities Programme. Before joining in April 2017, with a background in Economics and Project Management, Esra co-directed a social enterprise developing energy efficiency and co-housing programmes in France. She worked as a sustainability Programme Manager and a Facilitator, mostly with international networks. Esra has extensive experience in organisational and network development in the field of resources, climate and environment. She holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Management.
