Chemical recycling: what it is and does it fit into the Circular Economy?

Chemical recycling is the new buzzword we keep hearing from different stakeholders, being them industry, policy officers or concerned activists.

Zero Waste Europe has recently released a study to share some light into the topic. With this webinar we move a step further in trying to understand what we refer to when we say chemical recycling, what are its pro and cons and if it could fit into a circular economy.

The speakers represent three different angles in the discussion: the industry already testing chemical recycling, the European Commission Directorate General for Environment working on waste management and the environmental NGO sector evaluating chemical recycling suitability for a circular economy.

This webinar will examine some key questions:

  • What is chemical recycling?
  • What are the techniques considered as chemical recycling?
  • Is it really recycling?
  • Comparative analysis with mechanical recycling
  • The current state of the technology: advantages and drawbacks
  • Policy status and challenges

Unfortunately, the webinar platform we use has a maximum capacity of 100 virtual seats. For this specific webinar, we have received a vast amount of interest, we are sorry but we won’t be able to host online everyone who has registered.
The attendance will therefore be done on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning that only the first 100 people to log-in will be able to attend the webinar.
For everybody else, the recording will be available to purchase for a small contribution the next day. Thank you for your understanding and apologies for any inconvenience caused.
