Maija is a communications specialist, environmental advocate, and civic activist based in Rīga, Latvia. With a background in strategic communications across the private, public, and non-governmental sectors, she brings extensive experience in public engagement and policy advocacy. As a member of Zero Waste Latvija, she leads the organization’s anti-incineration campaign, and also works on shaping policy and public understanding of the circular economy and waste reduction. She also serves as a Board Member of Zero Waste Europe, contributing to policy development and cross-European collaboration on waste reduction and resource efficiency.

Amelie is a French board certified onco-dermatologist specialised in skin cancer with a background in research currently working at the University hospital of Creteil and in a private practice in the suburbs of Paris. She has a background in science as she also did a PhD in molecular biology at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City.

She’s currently co-president of the Collectif 3R who studies the impact of the WtE plant in Ivry sur Seine, France, on the health of the neighboring community and on the potential health related risks of WtE plants in densely populated areas. They advocate for alternative policies that favor waste reduction to waste incineration.

Regina Stoilova

Environmental lawyer with Za Zemiata

Regina Stoilova is a Bulgarian-qualified public interest environmental lawyer with eight years of experience supporting environmental organisations and local communities in their fight for a clean environment. She specialises in litigation and advocacy on air and industrial pollution, waste incineration, and human rights. In 2025, Regina earned a PhD from Sofia University with a dissertation on the legal regime of ambient air in Bulgaria.

Brex is an environmental justice advocate working closely with civil society and communities in fighting false solutions to waste and climate change. Prior to joining GAIA Asia Pacific as its Climate and Anti-Incineration Campaigner, Brex was an active volunteer in youth-led programs for sustainable development, worked with faith-based and indigenous communities, and earned his license as an environmental planner in the Philippines. He also finished a graduate thesis on climate justice at Sophia University in Tokyo.
